Stability of Relativistic Matter via Thomas–fermi Theory

چکیده

A Thomas-Fermi-Weizsäcker type theory is constructed, by means of which we are able to give a relatively simple proof of the stability of relativistic matter. Our procedure has the advantage over previous ones in that the critical value of the fine structure constant, α, is raised to 0.77 (recall that the critical value is known to be less than 2.72). When α = 1/137, the largest nuclear charge is 59 (compared to the known optimum value 87). Apart from this, our method is simple, for it parallels the original Lieb-Thirring proof of stability of nonrelativistic matter, and it adds another perspective on the subject. c ©1996 by the authors. Scaling in Relativistic Thomas–Fermi Approach for Nuclei

By using the scaling method we derive the virial theorem for the relativistic mean field model of nuclei treated in the Thomas–Fermi approach. The Thomas–Fermi solutions statisfy the stability condition against scaling. We apply the formalism to study the excitation energy of the breathing mode in finite nuclei with several relativistic parameter sets of common use. PACS: 21.60.-n; 24.30.Cz; 21...

Scaling Calculation of Isoscalar Giant Resonances in Relativistic Thomas–Fermi Theory

We derive analytical expressions for the excitation energy of the isoscalar giant monopole and quadrupole resonances in finite nuclei, by using the scaling method and the extended Thomas–Fermi approach to relativistic mean field theory. We study the ability of several non-linear σ − ω parameter sets of common use in reproducing the experimental data. For monopole oscillations the calculations a...

Relativistic Thomas-fermi Model at Finite Temperatures

We briefly review the Thomas-Fermi statistical model of atoms in the classical non-relativistic formulation and in the generalised finite-nucleus relativistic formulation. We then discuss the classical generalisation of the model to finite temperatures in the non-relativistic approximation and present a new relativistic model at finite temperatures, investigating how to recover the existing the...

Simplest Equation Method for nonlinear solitary waves in Thomas- Fermi plasmas

The Thomas-Fermi (TF) equation has proved to beuseful for the treatment of many physical phenomena. In this pa-per, the traveling wave solutions of the KdV equation is investi-gated by the simplest equation method. Also, the effect of differentparameters on these solitary waves is considered. The numericalresults is conformed the good accuracy of presented method.

Relativistic Equation of State of Nuclear Matter for Supernova and Neutron Star

We construct the equation of state (EOS) of nuclear matter using the relativistic mean field (RMF) theory in the wide density, temperature range with various proton fractions for the use of supernova simulation and the neutron star calculations. We first construct the EOS of homogeneous nuclear matter. We use then the Thomas-Fermi approximation to describe inhomogeneous matter, where heavy nucl...
